Job summary

Manhattan Children’s Center in Manhattan, NY is seeking a positive, reliable Part-Time Custodian to support a therapeutic, safe environment for students. Work hours are Mon–Fri 1:00pm–6:00pm.

Duties include daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, bathrooms and common areas; floor care, trash removal, minor repairs, and reporting maintenance needs. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in custodial, maintenance, facilities, or building operations preferred.
• Experience in a school/office/healthcare setting is a plus.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to lift and carry supplies as required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain floors throughout the building.
• Empty trash and recycle from classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets and sinks.
• Restock bathroom and cleaning supplies as needed.
• Assist with general building upkeep and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Perform minor repairs and replace light bulbs as needed.
• Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor.

• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of classrooms, offices, bathrooms, common areas, and other designated areas.

• Sweep, mop, and maintain floors throughout the building.

• Assist with general building upkeep and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.

• Perform minor building repairs and basic maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and addressing minor issues as needed.

• Identify and report maintenance, safety, or repair concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

• Follow established health, safety, and sanitation procedures at all times.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous experience in custodial, maintenance, facilities, or building operations preferred.

• Experience working in a school, office, healthcare, or similar facility is a plus.

• Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation practices, and general building maintenance.

• Ability to perform minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks.

• Ability to safely operate basic cleaning equipment and tools.

• Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment as required.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with staff and building personnel.
