Job summary

Chelmsford Public Schools is seeking an ABA Paraprofessional for Parker Middle School to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The role involves 1:1 and small-group work in a sub-separate SPED classroom or inclusion setting, with supervision and training provided as needed.

Ideal candidates will have ABA training or willingness to be trained, ASD knowledge, and experience assisting with academic, emotional, behavioral, and social support; toileting assistance may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be ABA trained or willing to be trained.
• Knowledge and understanding of ASD.
• Knowledge of school classroom procedure including records.
• Knowledge of special education procedures.
• Demonstrated aptitude for elementary, middle or high school responsibilities.
• Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.
• Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, socially.
• Assist students with toileting as needed.
• Follow directions and implement accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and related service providers.
• Collect data consistently.
• Ability to implement a behavior support plan.
• Such alternatives to above as approved by principal, SPED coordinator, and Director of Student Services.

Responsibilities

• Work with students 1:1 and/or with small groups in sub-separate special education classrooms and/or inclusion settings.
• Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally and socially in the school environment.
• Assist with toileting as needed and monitor students’ needs according to plans.
• Follow established instructions and implement accommodations and modifications by teaching staff.
• Collect and record data as required for progress monitoring.
• Consistently implement procedures of a behavior support plan.
