Job summary

Tobii Dynavox is seeking a Regional AAC Content Reviewer for the Hmong language community. This fully remote, contractor role focuses on evaluating and culturally adapting AAC content to reflect local usage and needs.

Ideal candidates have substantial AAC experience, native fluency in Hmong, fluent English, and reliable communication. The project runs up to 50 hours over 8 weeks, starting December 1, 2026, with bi-weekly sessions.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
• AAC Specialist, or background in Speech-Language Pathology, Education, or Occupational Therapy.
• Native speaker of the target language with substantial residence in the target region.
• Fluent written proficiency in the target language.
• Fluency in English and reliable email communication.

Responsibilities

• Edit and review AAC content for cultural accuracy, language/grammar use and regional relevance.
• Adapt phrasing and vocabulary to reflect local usage norms.
• Provide expert review from the target regional AAC community perspective.
• Collaborate closely with an internal AAC Content Developer.
• Ensure alignment with the established evidence-based language approach.
• Deliver timely feedback and edits during weekly remote reviews.

This project is critical in ensuring that AAC content is linguistically and culturally meaningful, relevant, and aligned with real-world communication needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and review AAC content for cultural accuracy, language/grammar useand regional relevance
• Adapt phrasing, vocabulary, and content to reflect local usage norms and real-life communication needs
• Provide expert review and insights from the perspective of the target regional AAC community
• Collaborate closely with an internal AAC Content Developer during the core project phase
• Ensure alignment with the established evidence-based language approach
• Deliver timely feedback and edits during weekly remote review cycles

Applicants Must Meet All of the Following Requirements

• Substantial experience in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
• AAC Specialist, or professional background in Speech-Language Pathology, Education, or Occupational Therapy
• Native speaker of the target language, with substantial residence in the target region (preferably including school years)
• Fluent written proficiency in the target language
• Fluency in English
• Reliable communication habits and responsiveness via email

Preferred Qualifications

• Academic or applied background in Linguistics

Project Commitment

• The expected start date is on December 1, 2026
• Up to 50 hours over an8-week period, including an expected commitment of around 15 hours per week during the first three weeks, with more flexible, ad hoc hours in the remaining weeks.
• Two fixed weekly sessions with a dedicated AAC Content Developer (based in Pittsburgh, USA and Stockholm, Sweden) during the first three weeks.
• Work is fully remote, with collaboration across time zones
• Flexible scheduling within the agreed project timeline
• This is a project-based independent contractor role and does not constitute an employment relationship.
• Contractors are responsible for managing their own taxes.
