Qualifications

• Substantial experience in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
• Native speaker with substantial residence in the target region.
• Fluent written proficiency in the target language (Hmong).
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Edit and review AAC content for cultural accuracy, language/grammar, and regional relevance.
• Adapt phrasing, vocabulary, and content to reflect local usage norms.
• Provide expert review and insights from the target regional AAC community.
• Collaborate with an internal AAC Content Developer during the core project.
• Ensure alignment with the evidence-based language approach.
• Deliver timely feedback and edits during weekly remote review cycles.

This project is critical in ensuring that AAC content is linguistically and culturally meaningful, relevant, and aligned with real-world communication needs.Target LanguageHmong WhiteKey ResponsibilitiesEdit and review AAC content for cultural accuracy, language/grammar use and regional relevanceAdapt phrasing, vocabulary, and content to reflect local usage norms and real-life communication needsProvide expert review and insights from the perspective of the target regional AAC communityCollaborate closely with an internal AAC Content Developer during the core project phaseEnsure alignment with the established evidence‑based language approachDeliver timely feedback and edits during weekly remote review cyclesApplicants Must Meet All of the Following RequirementsSubstantial experience in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)AAC Specialist, or professional background in Speech-Language Pathology, Education, or Occupational TherapyNative speaker of the target language, with substantial residence in the target region (preferably including school years)Fluent written proficiency in the target languageFluency in EnglishReliable communication habits and responsiveness via emailPreferred QualificationsAcademic or applied background in LinguisticsProject CommitmentThe expected start date is on December 1, 2026Up to 50 hours over an 8-week period, including an expected commitment of around 15 hours per week during the first three weeks, with more flexible, ad hoc hours in the remaining weeks.Two fixed weekly sessions with a dedicated AAC Content Developer (based in Pittsburgh, USA and Stockholm, Sweden) during the first three weeks.Work is fully remote, with collaboration across time zonesFlexible scheduling within the agreed project timelineThis is a project‑based independent contractor role and does not constitute an employment relationship.
