Marotta Controls, Inc. in Parsippany, NJ, is seeking a Tech II to assist senior technicians in assembling and testing electronics for Aerospace, Navy, and Space applications.

You’ll solder, crimp, assemble, label, and prepare hardware for final inspection while following schematics and procedures. Responsibilities include interpreting documents, testing with precision tools, and maintaining quality throughout production.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to test repetitive products.
Ability to understand and work with blueprint drawings.

Responsibilities

Primary duty is to ensure products perform their proposed functions satisfactorily.
Read and interpret procedures, schematics, and drawings; use measuring devices to confirm geometries.
Complete work per technical specs and regulatory requirements including mil-specs.
Solder, crimp and assemble critical electronic systems.
Operate in accordance with company ESD policies.
Set up and operate tools for assembly and testing equipment; use micrometers, calipers, etc.
Assist in testing equipment maintenance and repair; document results accurately.
Maintain accurate parts and part counts; identify causes for test failures and perform rework when needed.

The A&T Tech II primarily works along-side of and assists Sr. Technicians in processing electronic and electromechanical assemblies for Aerospace, Navy, and Space applications. This role assists in the assembly and test of production hardware and their subassemblies, in accordance with schematics and other written and/or verbal specifications. The Tech I will also be actively involved in soldering, crimping, electronic assembly, labeling and capping, hardware before presentation to Final Inspection.

Minimum Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to test repetitive products
Demonstrate the ability to understand and work with blueprint drawings
Detail-oriented, with ability to work in a fast paced environment and follow procedures
Effective verbal/written communication skills required for interacting with all levels of personnel within the organization.
Computer literate, with MS Office experience and basic PC skills
1+ years of experience in a manufacturing/testing environment (less experience considered with a recent A.A.S. degree).

Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities

Primary duty is to ensure that products perform their proposed functions in a satisfactory manner
Read, interpret documents (i.e. procedures, schematics/technical drawings, etc.) and use necessary measuring devices/equipment to confirm tooling/fixturing geometries and dimensions, as directed
Complete work as directed, in compliance with technical specifications and regulatory requirements including mil-specs
Solder, crimp and assemble critical electronic systems
Operate in accordance to Company ESD (electro static discharge) policies
Setup and operate tools required for assembly including, but not limited to; standard hand tools, load testing devices, micrometers, depth mics, calipers and microscopes
Setup and operate equipment required for testing including, but not limited to; multimeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, pressure, gauges and transducers, data recorders, load cells, and flow meters
Assist with testing equipment maintenance and/or repair
Conduct function testing, troubleshoot, rework, and document results fully and accurately
Maintain accurate parts and part count for each job
Identify causes for test failures and perform requested rework with limited supervision. Participate in corrective action resolution.
Document and support Lean ideas to improve the efficiencies of the company
Communicate with vendors for scheduling outside processes
Assist in packaging hardware in accordance to ESD procedures
Maintain all hand tools in clean working condition
Notify supervisor of any equipment that requires repair
Properly handle and dispose of chemicals used, utilizing proper PPE (as required)
Identify any routings discrepancy and notify supervisor so changes can be made, if necessary
Perform other job duties as requested, directed or assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
This position entails constant exposure to abrasive chemicals
This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8 hours, Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekend work are required, as job duties demand.
Some travel may be required for this position (5-10%)

Pay Range

$27 - $34 per hour

This position is at our Parsippany, NJ office location.
