Job summary

Marotta Controls, Inc. in Parsippany, NJ is seeking an Engineer II - Mechanical for Commercial Space Systems. This role focuses on designing products to meet customer requirements, coordinating BOMs, creating test requirements, and releasing development drawings.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering is required as a minimum (Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent).
• 2-5 years of design experience with valves and fluid control devices.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic controls.
• Solid analytical skills: stress analysis, heat transfer, fluid flow.
• Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance and US citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate creation of a preliminary bill of materials in the business system and verify accuracy.
• Create development testing requirements and release drawings for development hardware.
• Monitor customer-driven changes with notification to Contracts Administrator or Program Manager.
• Ensure accuracy of all drawings and documents, including tolerance stack-ups.
• Communicate technical/schedule problems promptly to Engineering Manager and Program Manager.
• Supervise engineering assistants and other project personnel as required.

Engineer II - Mechanical (Commercial Space Systems)

Overview

The Engineer II - Mechanical is responsible for designing products to meet customer's requirements including all design, functional, material, and test requirements from the customer's component and sub-tier specifications. The specific assignments and responsibilities will be consistent with the level of experience of the engineer. Regular interaction required with other engineers and test technicians as well as frequent contact with suppliers, contractors, and customers. Occasional light travel may be involved.

Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities

• Coordinating the creation of a preliminary bill of material in the business system and verifying its accuracy
• Create development testing requirements, development test instructions, and release of drawings for development hardware
• Maintain ongoing surveillance of customer-driven changes, with written notification to Contracts Administrator or Program Manager, including program impact assessment
• Ensure accuracy of all drawings/documents on the project, except purely drafting technique issues. This includes tolerance stack-ups
• Communicate technical and schedule problems, in a timely manner, to Engineering Manager / Director, Contracts Administrator, and Program Manager when applicable
• Supervision/oversight of engineering assistants, documentation personnel, design and test personnel on project activities as required

• Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).
• Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirements

• This job interacts in a professional office environment, Engineering Lab, and manufacturing environments. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, hand tools, test equipment, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing, ESD and foot protection (as required).
• This is a full-time position. Overtime and weekend may be required as job duties demand.
• Some travel may be expected for this position (20%) including Test Labs (e.g. EMI), vendor, and customer visits.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• B.S in Engineering is required as a minimum - Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent. Advanced technical degree is desirable for this position.
• 2-5 years design experience with a variety of valves and fluid control devices preferred
• Knowledge of mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic controls
• Solid analytical skills are required: stress analysis, heat transfer, fluid flow
• Ability to solve complex mechanical, static and dynamic problems
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and compressible flow
• Exposure to performing analytical solutions using tools such as ANSYS or Pro-E Mechanica
• Must work precisely, accurately, and with close attention to all details
• High level of mechanical aptitude and knowledge
• Advanced organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance, therefore you must be able to obtain/maintain a security clearance
• Highly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
• Must be a US Citizen

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the MechanicalEngineer is regularly required to see, talk and hear.

This position is at our Parsippany, NJ office location.

Pay Range: $87,750 - $115,000/year
