Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is seeking an A&P Technician for the United States Air Force Contractor Logistics Support contract at Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL. This position involves working closely with experienced A&P technicians on the E-9A Widget (DeHavilland Dash 8 100 series), performing routine maintenance, unscheduled repairs, and minor modifications.

Responsibilities

1. Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of aircraft and engines to ensure airworthiness.
2. Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures and components, including wings, fuselage, rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic units, using appropriate tools and equipment.
3. Interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and specifications for repairs or replacements.
4. Inspect turbine blades for cracks or breaks.
5. Test engine operation with required equipment.
6. Replace or repair worn or damaged components and reassemble engines.
7. Remove and reinstall engines using hoists or forklifts.
8. Disassemble and inspect parts for defects.
9. Perform electrical system and accessory repairs or replacements.
10. Service aircraft by cleaning, greasing, and checking brakes.
11. Maintain FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
12. Perform line servicing and repairs to keep aircraft in safe condition.
13. Specialize in structural, precision, and functional parts repairs and modifications.
14. Conduct routine inspections and troubleshoot deficiencies reported by aircrew.
15. Read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
16. Perform composite repairs as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years’ experience with turbo prop aircraft.
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification without enforcement actions.
• Basic computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office is a plus.
• U.S. citizen with a valid driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience with DeHavilland Dash 8 turbo prop aircraft.
• 2 years’ experience with Pratt & Whitney PW-120A engines.
