Job summary

AviHire is seeking a qualified aviation maintenance technician at Cannon AFB to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on aircraft systems. The role requires an FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification, strong documentation discipline, and the ability to work with senior mechanics on complex repairs.

You will travel to various locations as needed, adhere to DoD and FAR/DFARS requirements, and maintain safety-focused operations while producing accurate

Qualifications

  • Active, current FAA A&P certification with no prior FAA violations.
  • Must pass written, oral and practical assessments.
  • Reliable transportation to work locations.
  • Understanding of technical schematics/diagrams/blueprints/manuals.
  • Must meet DoD/Combatant Command deployment requirements.
  • Deployment may be required up to 90 days.
  • Must pass pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • Willing to work extended hours, holidays, and shifts.
  • Must obtain a valid passport and visa for international travel.
  • US Government security clearance required; processing provided if selected.

  • Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification with no prior FAA violations.
  • Must pass, written, oral and practical assessments.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations.
  • Basic understanding of applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
  • Please be advised that this position may require deployment for a period of up to 90 days, depending on mission needs. Deployment is not guaranteed and will be determined at the discretion of the supervisor or management, or as otherwise specified.
  • Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required.

  • Ability to obtain a current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.
  • A United States Government Security Clearance is required for employment. Applicants who do not currently have a USG security clearance are welcome to apply and, if selected, will be processed for a USG security clearance by SNC prior to employment. Employment will begin once the USG security clearance is granted. If applicant is unable to obtain USG security clearance, the offer of employment will be withdrawn.
Qualification We Prefer:
  • Associate's degree in Aviation Maintenance or related field.
  • Specific experience with certain aircraft models.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.
  • Able to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends.
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (FAR/DFARS).
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
Essential Functions:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Hand and finger dexterity to work with small mechanical components and tools.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Ability to travel frequently to customer locations, sometimes on short notice.
  • Ability to work in a combination of office and field environments.
  • Ability to read detailed technical manuals, schematics, and computer screens.
  • Ability to inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems accurately.
  • Ability to hear and understand spoken communication in noisy environments, such as industrial sites or construction areas.
  • Ability to detect auditory signals from machinery or equipment, which may indicate issues.
  • Ability to navigate various work environments, including climbing ladders, crawling in confined spaces, and working at heights.
  • Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for frequent travel to customer locations.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, including repairs, installations, and maintenance.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
