Job summary

The State of Maryland seeks a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug for the Allegany County Health Department in Cumberland, MD, performing evening shifts. You will manage care for up to six clients, conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and finalize discharge summaries with ASAM level decisions in a collaborative team.

You will co-facilitate Reality Group, deliver life skills education, and present educational sessions.

Qualifications

• Education and experience determined by the Maryland State Board for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.
• Certification as Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug is required.
• A motor vehicle operator’s license valid in Maryland may be required.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

This is a permanent evening shift position. This position is responsible for case management for up to six persons served, including individual, couples, and family counseling. This position will complete assessments, treatment/transition plans and discharge summaries and determine the appropriate ASAM level of care. This position will adhere to ethical and behavioral standards while continuing professional development, and co-facilitate the Reality Group. This position will also conduct educational presentations and provide life skills education. This position participates as a member of the Professional Staff in CQI meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug. Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the certification requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

• In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
• Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
