As a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic for the Army National Guard, you’ll ensure that anything that moves on wheels is ready to hit the road. You will be responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles in the field and in the shop.
Your duties include inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, testing, adjusting, and replacing systems and components; performing recovery operations; and servicing electrical systems, including wiring harnesses and charging systems.
Through training, you will develop skills for a civilian career with service stations, auto dealers, farm equipment companies, and state highway agencies. You can pursue roles working on carburetors, transmissions, radiators, construction equipment, or endless track vehicles.

Job training includes 10 weeks of Basic Training to learn basic Soldiering skills, and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), split between classroom and field training.
