Job summary

Wright County, Minnesota is seeking a Public Safety Telecommunicator to handle 911/dispatch operations for the Sheriff’s Emergency Communications System. You will receive and transmit information via radio, phone, and computer terminals under supervision.

The role requires 10- and 12-hour rotating shifts, day/evening/night hours, weekends and holidays. Training includes Powerphone Total Response, Odyssey, and CJIS systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one year of customer service/public contact experience or equivalent.
• Must be able to type 30 words per minute.
• Certifications: CJIS/DVS and Powerphone Total Response within six months of employment.
• Certifications: Odyssey and XCEL Nuclear Plant Emergency Preparedness within one year of employment.
• Valid driver’s license required on hire; pass background check and psychological exam.

Responsibilities

• Answer all incoming calls; determine nature and urgency and collect required information.
• Dispatch units via CAD systems and coordinate with field units.
• Monitor alarms and respond to intrusions and fires.
• Maintain and update electronic or manual records and logs.
• Learn and operate Sheriff’s Office data systems and ensure data accuracy.
