Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS is seeking 911 Call Taker Cadets who will attend training and participate in hands-on activities to prepare for full-time work with the Kansas City Kansas Police Department.

Cadets will earn $15 per hour, receive school credits toward graduation, and engage in community events while developing customer service skills, work ethic and self-discipline in a professional dispatch environment.

Qualifications

• Senior (12th grade) in good standing academically and behaviorally.
• Type 35 words per minute.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsabilités

• Attend all required training classes and participate in classroom and hands-on activities.
• Represent the Dispatch Center professionally at all times.
• Assist 911 Call Takers and Dispatch staff at community events and in civilian activities.
• Learn entry-level skills such as customer service, work ethic and self-discipline.

As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer criminal history background check, physical examination and drug screen. All employees must also submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

911 Call Taker Cadets are responsible for attending all required training classes and actively engaging in all classroom and hands on activities. 911 Call Taker Cadets will receive training that will prepare them for work as a full-time 911 Call Taker for the Kansas City Kansas Police Department. All 911 Call Taker Cadets are a representative of the Kansas City Kansas Police Department just as any other employee. It is expected that Cadets will conduct themselves in a professional manner while at the Dispatch Center and also while in their personal time. Cadets may the opportunities to assist 911 Call Takers and Dispatch staff in civilian activities to include community engagement and recruitment events. This position will also provide an opportunity to learn entry level skills such as customer service, work ethic and self-discipline. Participants will earn $15 per hour plus school credits towards graduation. Classes will meet 3-4 times per week for around four hours a day.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Senior (12th grade) at any Wyandotte County high school (Bishop Ward, Bonner Springs, Turner, Piper, USD 500 schools) in good standing academically and behaviorally.
• Type 35 words per minute
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
