Job Description
Qualifications
- Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities (PreK-12 or 5-12) and/or Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities or Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities, as appropriate.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree Preferred
- 3+ years of experience teaching in a middle or high school setting Preferred
- Experience with IEP development, evaluation, and case management
- Experience conducting and/or interpreting academic and educational assessments for special education eligibility and programming
- Strong understanding of Massachusetts special education regulations, IEP requirements, and the special education evaluation process
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience collaborating with general education teachers to provide accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction
- Experience working collaboratively with families and outside service providers Preferred

Professional Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as a Special Education liaison/case manager for students in grades 9-10, coordinating the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Conduct and/or coordinate special education evaluations and assessments, including academic testing and other assessments as appropriate.
- Analyze student performance data, evaluation results, classroom performance, grades, MCAS, i-Ready, and other relevant information to identify student strengths and areas of need.
- Develop and implement specially designed instruction, accommodations, and modifications aligned with students’ IEPs.
- Provide direct push-in and pull-out special education services based on student needs and IEP requirements.
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers to ensure that students’ IEP accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction are consistently implemented in the classroom.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding students’ special education programming, progress, and needs.
- Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings, including communication and collaboration with families, teachers, related service providers, administrators, and other members of the student’s educational team.
- Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and use progress-monitoring data to inform instruction and make recommendations for changes to programming.
- Support students in accessing the general education curriculum, including ELA and other academic content areas, while building independence and self-advocacy skills.
- Provide targeted academic and/or reading intervention when appropriate based on student needs and IEP goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement appropriate Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports and participate in MTSS and student data review meetings.
- Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation, progress reports, evaluation records, and other required records in accordance with Massachusetts regulations and district expectations.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with families and colleagues regarding student progress, concerns, and programming.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, required trainings, and other meetings throughout the school year.
- Support students with the development of executive functioning, organization, self-advocacy, and other skills necessary for success in high school and beyond.
- Potentially teach ELA, intervention, study skills, or other courses/supports as needed based on student needs and school programming.
- Salary range: $52,803-$91,482, dependent upon education and experience.
