Job summary

Lancaster County Wide Communications seeks an experienced 9-1-1 Assistant Operations Manager – Professional Standards to oversee accreditation, training, and QA/QI across the Emergency Communications Center. You will supervise up to six staff, drive compliance with CALEA, APCO, IAED, and EMAP standards, and coordinate training initiatives from recruitment through recertification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and seven years of progressively responsible experience in a Public Safety Answering Point or emergency communications center, including at least three years of supervisory, program-management, training, quality assurance, accreditation, or comparable leadership responsibility.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public safety, education, organizational leadership, public administration, communications, or related field preferred.
• Education or training in adult learning, curriculum development, performance evaluation, quality improvement, accreditation, or project management preferred.
• Supervisory or management experience in a multi-discipline 9-1-1 center providing police, fire, and EMS call-taking and dispatch preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Professional Standards portfolio with annual goals, work plans, and performance measures.
• Direct and develop up to six staff, manage workload, and coordinate performance improvement actions.
• Oversee accreditation programs (CALEA, APCO, IAED, EMAP) and ensure readiness for reviews.
• Direct the telecommunicator training program across employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Lead QA/QI program design, data analysis, and reporting to leadership to drive improvements.
