Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate-and-treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multiple-problem situations, primarily in critical care areas, with protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision-making, and self-direction. Responsibilities include patient and family education, coordination of activities, staff development, and professional growth. The RT II provides care with awareness of population-specific needs, addressing biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs, and participates in educating new employees and others.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Provides customer service, completes patient care documentation, and promotes a team environment.
  • Administers quality patient care through assessments, collaboration, verifying orders, medication administration, ventilator management, arterial blood gas sampling, and education.
  • Provides a safe environment, promotes high safety standards, participates in performance improvement initiatives, and adheres to policies.
Minimum Education and Certifications
  • Associates or Bachelors in Respiratory Care (preferred).
  • Certifications: RRT, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP (all required upon hire).
Experience and Skills

0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care, and skills in communication, critical thinking, and computer literacy.
