Job summary

Pasadena Independent School District is seeking a Substitute Crossing Guard to help students safely cross intersections on designated routes.

The role requires GED or high school diploma, a valid Texas driver’s license, and dependable transportation. Prior experience is preferred but not required, with focus on clear communication and constant traffic awareness.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Cross students as designated areas safely.
• Instruct students on basic safety dealing with crossing an intersection.
• Cross any pedestrian at the designated location: Elementary, Intermediate, High School.
• Be constantly alert and aware of all traffic, moving or stopped and any other circumstances that may affect the safety of the students.
• Report traffic violations such as speeding, failure to stop, block crosswalk by recording license plate numbers and description of vehicle to immediate supervisor and/or PISD Police Dept.
• In an emergency, take charge until proper authorities are notified and have arrived.
• Use and care for all equipment that is issued for the task.
• Guard must maintain self-control at all times.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Fill in for regular guards when they are off to ensure students get safely across designated intersections

Education/Certification

• GED/High School Diploma

Special Knowledge/Skills

Experience

• Must have valid Texas Driver's license
• Must have dependable transportation
