Job summary

Superior Hospice in Minnesota is seeking an experienced Hospice On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) to manage after-hours patient needs and urgent visits. You will provide expert symptom management, pain control, and compassionate support to families during stressful, off-hours moments.

The role offers a highly autonomous practice within a multidisciplinary team, with a predictable 7-on/7-off schedule and on-call duties that require flexibility for evenings and overnights.

Qualifications

• Active Minnesota RN license required.
• Hospice nursing experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in home health, oncology, ICU, or palliative care valued.
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and independent decision-making skills.
• Outstanding communication and crisis management abilities.
• Availability for evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays on a 7 On / 7 Off rotation.

Responsibilities

• Respond to after-hours calls and urgent patient needs within the service area.
• Complete emergency hospice visits to assess condition changes and manage symptoms.
• Provide pain management, medication administration, wound care and comfort-focused nursing care.
• Offer compassionate telephone support and education to patients, families and caregivers.
• Coordinate with physicians and the hospice team to ensure continuity of care.
• Complete accurate and timely EMR documentation.

Compensation: $54.09-$78.13/hour for active visit time + $5.10-$12.00/hour beeper pay

Schedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off | Evening & Overnight On-Call

What You'll Bring

• Active Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Previous hospice nursing experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in home health, oncology, ICU, palliative care, or other high-acuity settings is highly valued.
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and independent decision-making skills.
• Outstanding communication and crisis management abilities.
• Ability to work evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays as part of a 7 On / 7 Off rotation.
