Job Description

Who We Are: The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a 6th Math Teacher at Perrin Woods Elementary for the 2026‑2027 school year. The district serves approximately 7,500 Pre‑K through grade 12 students, in 17 state‑of‑the‑art buildings. We value diversity and aim to provide social and emotional learning growth with initiatives such as a 1:1 program and the YouMedia Center, a digital learning lab offering 3‑D printing, graphic design, and videography.

Responsibilities
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small‑group instruction to meet student needs.
  • Use multiple approaches to instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Engage in active, hands‑on, creative and innovative approaches to help students improve skills.
  • Identify and build on student strengths.
  • Support and follow all district programming in academic, behavioral, and emotional areas.
  • Facilitate ongoing assessments to determine instructional starting points, monitor progress, and evaluate student growth.
  • Evaluate, grade, and assess student work.
  • Maintain class records and report grades and progress at term end.
  • Provide instruction to students with varying capabilities, with attention to SEL support.
  • Assist students in developing responsible behaviors and a positive work ethic.
  • Implement an effective program of instruction reflective of the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, nurses, mental health specialists, and counselors to provide a safe, student‑centered environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support building and district‑level programs.
  • Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding student/classroom issues.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and exemplify responsible leadership.
  • Manage all situations in a positive and professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We Offer

Contracted employee: 183 days per year, 7.25 hours per day.

Salary is in accordance with the negotiated agreement, increasing with experience and education.

Contracted employees receive competitive benefits. All employees receive professional development.

Salary details are available in the Springfield Education Association (SEA) negotiated agreement for the 2025‑26 school year.
