Job summary

Brilla Schools in the Bronx seeks a dedicated Middle School Humanities teacher to foster a literacy-rich classroom where scholars meet standards and grow in virtue. You will leverage data-driven decision-making, co-teaching practices, and innovative pedagogy to elevate student achievement and love of learning.

You will build strong relationships with students and families, align lessons with Brilla’s curriculum, and engage in ongoing professional development while supporting a joyful, structured

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Possession of current teaching certification as a Middle School and/or Content teacher (strongly preferred)
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Relevant educational setting experience with demonstrated student results (preferred)
  • Special Education credential and experience (strongly preferred)

Position Overview

  • Understanding, planning, and executing key elements of innovative pedagogy, co-teaching practices, and data-based decision-making through a deep love of learning

  • Provide a model of courage, justice, wisdom, and self-control, while championing a positive, flexible attitude and solution-based approach to challenges aiming to challenge the status quo of the current educational landscape in underserved communities
  • A desire to accept, implement, and seek feedback, and a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities while inspiring outstanding achievement in Scholars
  • Develop meaningful relationships with students, families and colleagues that inspire Scholars to love learning and achieve exceptional academic success
Core Competencies & Responsibilities

Brilla’s Middle School Humanities teachers are content experts who foster Humanities and Literacy environments and mindsets where all scholars have access to grade level standards and demonstrate high levels of growth and achievement. The habits and practices that allow teachers’ to drive outcomes include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in ongoing professional development, including formal and informal observation and coaching cycles
  • Implementing looking at student work protocols, and data analysis practices and urgently responding to student data
  • Establishing and communicating standards and content-based objectives and regularly evaluating student progress toward mastery
  • Internalizing the provided curriculum, and teach rigorous, classically-inspired lessons that adhere with Brilla’s ambitious student growth targets
  • Collaborating vertically with content teachers, and laterally with grade-level teachers
  • Partnering with families to nurture a home to school connection that fosters shared accountability for scholars’ outcomes

The base pay range for this position is $71,020 to $119,000 per year, with pay varying based on your unique job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You'll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including medical, financial, and more. Plus, as an extra incentive, candidates who begin employment on or before October 15, 2026, are eligible for a $4,000 signing bonus paid in two installments over the course of their first year of employment.
