Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Creating and implementing the Dual Language Curriculum.
• Provide individualized as well as whole group language instruction.
• Develop academic language for student success in content areas.
• Evaluate and maintain grades and absences for each student.
• Create lesson plans that meet Indiana/WIDA/ISTE standards.
• Maintain a neat, conducive classroom for language learning.
• Teach core content areas in the target language using Indiana standards.
• Integrate English and the target language in content instruction.
• Collaborate with staff, administrators, and parents on cultural programs.
• Support diverse students and families; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education

ENL/ESL Endorsement (Preferred)

• Indiana educator’s license (Current)
• Instructional experience in second language acquisition or bilingual education
• Advanced written and oral proficiency in English and Spanish (Required)
• SIOP and WIDA Trained
• Proficiency in Spanish - Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening
• Ability to teach content in Spanish

Specific Responsibilities In This Position

• Creating and implementing the Dual Language Curriculum
• Provide individualized as well as whole group language instruction
• Develop academic language for student success in content areas
• Evaluate and keep grades, absentees for each student in a formal record/computer grade book
• Responsible for creating and implementing lesson plans that meet Indiana/WIDA/ISTE standards
• Responsible for maintenance of attractive, neat classroom that presents an atmosphere that is conducive to language learning
• Teaches core content areas in the target language (language arts, math, social studies, science) using the Indiana Academic Standards
• Able to integrate both English and the target language in the teaching of grade level content
• Possesses demonstrated oral and written fluency in both English and the target language
• Collaborates with staff, administrators, and parents in the development and implementation of cultural programs/opportunities for students
• Able to work with students and parents who are culturally, racially and linguistically diverse
• Other duties as assigned by building/district administration
