RATE OF PAY: Per Master Agreement Schedule “C” Guideline
SUMMARY

The main responsibility is to instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence while analysing their performance, instructing in relevant skills, and providing encouragement. Practice is usually after school.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Michigan Teachers Certificate preferred
  • Previous successful coaching experience
  • Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of Basketball
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrates integrity, honesty, responsibility, and loyalty in the performance of all tasks
  • Ability to take responsibility for his or her team assignments
  • Ability to use clear, concise language to provide timely and accurate written and oral communication
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plans and communicates with coaching staff regarding practice schedule and competition strategies which ensure the health, physical well‑being, and success of student athletes
  • Manages the distribution and collection of uniforms and sport specific inventory
  • Ensures that all student athletes are in compliance with District requirements including athletic physicals, student code of conduct, athletic fees paid, academic eligibility and all other standards included in the district athletic handbook
  • Models/instills values of sportsmanship, citizenship, and teamwork
  • Properly supervises student athletes during all related activities and events
  • Maintains individual and team statistics and records
  • Plans and implements a seasonal awards recognition program
  • Engages in sport specific professional development education
  • To perform assigned tasks with a high standard of quality
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
