Job summary

RATE OF PAY: $ 15.00 - $ 22.69 DOQ

SUMMARY

A Success Coach at the Parchment High School is an advocate for students. This individual assists students by collaboratively building an individualized learning plan tailored to each student’s goals and individual needs. The Success Coach will help students identify and overcome obstacles that may impede academic and behavioral success. The Success Coach's responsibilities also include managing records, communications, and day-to-day operations while supporting students, staff, and administrators.

A Success Coach should be committed to helping students achieve their educational objectives. Ultimately, an outstanding Success Coach should be able to build rapport with students and demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Associates Degree or MDE approved testing
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Leadership role in supporting and monitoring at-risk students
  • Ability to handle detailed tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Experience working with adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • 3-5 years successful classroom, school, or clinical experience preferred
  • Non-violent crisis training (CPI) certificationpreferred
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify and resolve behavior barriers to learning
  • Support instruction to help create a positive classroom environment
  • Motivate all students to encourage appropriate behavior
  • Promote school policies and practices that ensure the safety of all students by reducing school violence, bullying, and harassment
  • Assist with student performance assessments and testing
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment
  • Maintain positive relationships with the building administration, parents, other staff, and students in the buildings
  • Collaborate with the school leadership team to ensure all students promote social, emotional learning
  • Establishes relationships and communicates with teachers, administrators, and family members identifies and seeks resolution for potential problems arising with any involved parties
  • Attends required meetings that discuss behavior
  • Work efficiently and effectively, both individually and as part of a team
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the principal
  • Helps students identify personal interests and life goals
  • Assists students in planning strategic Individualized Learning Plans (ILP)
  • Monitors progress of students in caseload with check-ins, scheduled meetings, or proactive outreach and communication, responding to students’ questions, concerns, and needs
  • Assists students in developing self-efficacy by identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding academic success; works with students to learn strong time management and organization skills; motivates students to practice self-regulation and take ownership of their academic success
  • Refers students to appropriate academic personnel and support resources and collaborates with others to monitor and accelerate the academic progress of the students referred
  • Manage and maintain student and staff records, files, and reports.
  • Acts as a liaison for program information between schools, departments, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintains attendance records, schedules and files in compliance with policies and laws.
  • Uphold confidentiality in all aspects of school operations.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Administrator.

  • Must be a good multi-tasker, scheduler, time manager and an active listener
  • Must have excellent time management and motivational skills
  • Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and procedural materials with excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Ability to speak effectively with parents, community members, administrators, and staff
  • Must have strong communication, computer, and interpersonal skills
  • A high level of expertise utilizing Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Absolute confidentiality is required
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, vendors, and the school community
  • Ability to adapt to new ideas and technology
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely
