Job summary

Hermeus is seeking a Modeling & Simulation Software Engineering Intern to develop performant modeling and simulation code for our 6DOF SITL system using Julia. You will interact with Flight Software, HMI, and Flight Sciences to ensure accuracy and stakeholder alignment.

Spring: ~16 weeks; Summer: ~12 weeks. The role emphasizes hardware-informed modeling, data validation, and real-time performance optimization to support rapid prototyping of high-speed aircraft concepts.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in CS, aerospace, EE, applied math, or related field.
• Proficiency in Julia or Python, MATLAB, or C++.
• Understanding of 6DOF dynamics and aerospace simulation.
• Experience with data validation and cross-functional collaboration.
• GPA 3.0 or above.

Responsibilities

• Develop 6DOF SITL simulation code in Julia.
• Build scalable Monte Carlo simulation features.
• Collaborate with Flight Software, HMI, and Flight Sciences.
• Design physics-informed models of hardware behavior.
• Validate models against real flight data.
• Document assumptions and integration workflows.
• Assist in code reviews and testing cycles.
