POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Conversion Team Leader is responsible for providing hands‑on training, troubleshooting, and technical support in the conversion department. This role plays a key part in developing operator skillsets, improving machine performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to ensure consistent, high‑quality production.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience operating or supporting conversion equipment required
  • Strong understanding of bag‑making processes, quality standards, and machine operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to train or mentor others in a manufacturing setting.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to give clear instructions.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues.
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and team‑oriented.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, shifts, or overtime as needed.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non‑standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job‑related stress and fostering productive workplace interaction

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct hands‑on training for new employees on equipment operation, safety protocols, and production procedures
  • Ensure consistent understanding and application of company processes, quality expectations, and safety requirements
  • Maintain and update training materials and checklists to reflect current practices
  • Observe and assess the performance of employees to identify training needs and skill gaps
  • Provide coaching, retraining, or additional support to underperforming team members
  • Collaborate with supervisors to recommend cross‑training opportunities or additional resources
  • Maintain training compliance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Assist machine operators with troubleshooting and resolving minor mechanical issues
  • Identify operational or process‑related problems and elevate recurring or complex issues to maintenance or supervision
  • Help maintain equipment efficiency and support quick changeovers or machine setup as needed
  • Serve as a role model by consistently following safety, quality, and efficiency standards
  • Ensure conversion machines operate continuously for a minimum of 11.5 hours per production shift, minimizing downtime through proactive support.
  • Monitor production speeds and line performance to identify and address mechanical or process‑related slowdowns in real time.
  • Support quick response to machine stoppages, jams, or product defects to restore optimal line speed efficiently.Collaborate with operators and maintenance teams to resolve issues that impact run‑time performance and target outputs.
  • Verify that changeovers and startup procedures are executed efficiently to maximize available run time each day.
  • Assist with identifying speed loss trends and recommend process improvements to sustain or enhance daily machine output.
  • Perform routine checks and provide mechanical or troubleshooting support to maintain consistent product flow and prevent bottlenecks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of downtime events and corrective actions to support continuous improvement and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) tracking.
  • Prioritize production support tasks that directly contribute to achieving or exceeding daily run‑time and throughput targets.
  • Ensure all Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs) are followed during production runs.
  • Provide feedback to leadership when existing SOPs/SOCs require revisions due to equipment upgrades or process changes.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
