Vertex is offering a 6‑month Mechanical Automation Co‑Op in Boston, MA. You will work on late‑stage process development activities for Type 1 Diabetes Cell Therapy, assisting experimental design, data collection, and analysis within the PD team.

You should be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, have internship experience, and be available full‑time from January through June 2027. The role is on-site in Boston with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Biotech, Biology, Engineering, or related field
• Must have completed at least 1 internship/co-op
• Some exposure to cell culture techniques
• Experience compiling and graphing data
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; Vertex does not sponsor internships/co-ops
• Must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before June 2027
• Available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January–June 2027

Responsibilities

• Assist experimental design and execution for Type 1 Diabetes Cell Therapy programs
• Perform cell culture in 2D environments (T-flasks)
• Record, compile, analyze, and present data to the broader team
• Assist with assessment of alternative raw materials for robustness
• Participate in evaluating stability and variability between lots of raw material
• Learn about the 3D bioreactor related portion of the process
