Job summary

Global Educational Excellence (GEE) seeks an 6-12 ESL Teacher to design and deliver language acquisition support for students whose first language is not English. The role focuses on advancing academic language proficiency and content access through evidence-based strategies.

The position requires a Michigan teaching certificate with ESL/ELL or bilingual endorsement, or enrollment in CAP; Satisfactory background check is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an ESL/ELL or Bilingual endorsement (NZ, NE, or equivalent) as defined by the Michigan State Board of Education.
• Candidates who do not yet hold a Michigan teaching certificate may qualify through enrollment in CAP, which provides a supported pathway to Michigan certification.
• Satisfactory criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Assess student language proficiency using WIDA screener and ACCESS assessments; maintain accurate progress records for all ELL students.
• Provide direct instruction, co-teaching, and push-in/pull-out language support aligned with WIDA standards.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate content-area instruction for English learners.
• Identify and properly enroll students with Limited English Proficiency; maintain ELL program records per MDE requirements.
• Serve as a liaison between families, school staff, and community resources.
• Participate in Child Study Team meetings and professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates who do not yet hold a Michigan teaching certificate may qualify through enrollment in GEE's Career Advancement Program (CAP), which provides a supported pathway to Michigan certification. CAP eligibility is determined at the time of application.
