As a 5th Grade Teacher, you will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for an effective educational foundation tailored to each student's ability.

Responsibilities
  • Instruction/Education
  • Plan and implement instruction adhering to the company's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Create purposeful and effective lesson plans to maximize learning and engagement.
  • Present subject matter with real-world, application-based examples.
  • Review student records to understand abilities and needs; maintain accurate records.
  • Strive to maximize each student's educational achievement.
  • Use diverse learning modalities and differentiated instruction.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments regularly; address student needs accordingly.
  • Refer students with suspected learning issues to support staff.
  • Coordinate class field trips as needed.
  • Prepare students for state achievement assessments.
  • Stay current in subject knowledge and learning theories; contribute to curriculum improvement.
  • Assist in curriculum revisions and selection of instructional materials.
  • Identify supplemental services beneficial to students.

Provide a Classroom Environment Conducive to Learning

  • Create a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students; demonstrate patience and nurturing.
  • Ensure classroom cleanliness and display student work appropriately.
  • Develop and enforce reasonable rules for behavior, maintaining order fairly and consistently.

Instructional Planning

  • Develop lesson plans aligned with guidelines and goals.
  • Design individual and group activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
  • Prepare thoroughly for classes and demonstrate readiness.
  • Participate in curriculum planning with colleagues.
  • Incorporate diagnostic information, including IEPs, into planning.
  • Protect supplies, equipment, and facilities to support instruction.

School/Community Relations

  • Establish cooperative relationships and communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities to promote a positive school culture and support students and staff.
Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent; valid teaching certification as appropriate.
  • One to three years of successful teaching experience, including student teaching/internship.
  • Combination of education and experience acceptable.
  • Strong command of subject content and learning theories.
  • Commitment to company values.
  • Successful criminal and employment background checks.
  • Effective instructional and communication skills, adhering to the Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Usual school conditions; may be noisy during high student traffic.

Physical Demands
