Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Teacher for 5th grade at Barton Elementary for a temporary long-call assignment from 08/25/2026 to 12/18/2026. The role requires instruction aligned to Minnesota standards and collaboration with campus teams.

Responsibilities include delivering rigorous instruction, assessing student progress, and communicating with families to support learning while participating in professional development and district-driven initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
• Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
• Demonstrated continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration and/or job-embedded staff development.
• Master's or PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction aligned to Minnesota state standards and district requirements.
• Teach curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning and problem solving.
• Collaborate with peers to implement best practices for diverse learners.
• Assess developmental, cognitive and social needs to tailor instruction.
• Create safe, respectful, engaging classrooms that are inclusive.
• Communicate regularly with families to support student learning.
• Support district and site goals and participate in PDPs.

Education
