Job summary

Compass Point, an Akima company, is seeking a 5G Cyber Security Engineer to fortify the DoD-focused 5G service at Fort Meade, MD, and to ensure resilient cyber defenses.

This hybrid role involves configuring, testing, and monitoring security environments, developing STIG guidance, and advancing 5G reference architectures with NSaaS and zero-trust concepts.

TS SCI clearance required; compensation ranges from $140,000 to $150,000 annually.

Qualifications

• +2 years supporting requirement/use cases for the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of 5G enterprise solutions.
• +2 Years supporting encryption, quantum computing threats, 5G communications security, mobility, and cross domain solutions.
• Clearance: TS SCI.

Responsibilities

• Configures, tests and monitors the environment for security events and operational health.
• Prevents the compromise of privileged account credentials from cyberattacks, promote credential hygiene and cybersecurity best practices, while ensuring systems/services comply with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
• Coordinates with designated government personnel to ensure the 5G services are available and optimized through security gateways. Develop STIG guidance for secure implementation of 5G systems.
• Develops DISA approach to 5G performance and security monitoring.
• Provides recommendations for security requirements for 5G standards.
• Decomposes DoD applicable 5G use cases and requirements based on NDAA and USD R&E guidance documents and policies.
• Develops 5G reference architecture COAs, including network slicing as a service (NSaaS), that showcase leveraging secure carrier networks to access the DoDIN.
• Develops a zero-trust security architecture that overlays DoD Security on commercial 5G reference architecture.

Assess the entire cybersecurity posture of the future 5G service and shall make recommendations to reduce support costs and shall expose and remediate configuration and operational security issues before they affect the future service offering.

This Hybrid position requires that you live within commuting distance from Fort Meade, MD.
