Job summary

Integral Federal seeks an experienced 508 UAT Specialist to ensure Section 508 compliance across VA IT products, lead accessibility testing within CI/CD, and support user acceptance testing aligned with federal requirements.

The role requires a Public Trust and a strong background in testing within Agile environments, with a focus on traceability and accessibility validation in a federal context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT-related field with 7–10 years of experience.
• Experience conducting Section 508 compliance testing, including automated and manual validation.
• Experience supporting UAT, ISQA, IV&V, and independent validation teams.
• Experience ensuring testing consistency across unit, functional, integration, and acceptance levels.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and maintaining SDLC traceability.
• Knowledge of Section 508 standards, WCAG criteria, assistive technologies, and federal guidelines.
• Proficiency with automated 508 tools (Axe, WAVE, ANDI) and UAT dashboards.
• Public Trust clearance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Oversees accessibility validation and supports test cycles, ensuring traceability across requirements and tests.
• Ensure all code changes undergo Section 508 testing, including automated tooling and accessibility validation.
• Use automated 508 testing tools as part of CI/CD and validation processes.
• Ensure accessibility defects are identified, documented, and remediated before release.
• Support UAT by providing clear visibility into test eligible features via dashboards.
• Provide technical and functional details to UAT, ISQA, and IV&V teams for validation.
• Support incident analysis related to code quality, certificates, resources, or accessibility barriers.
• Participate in Sprint Reviews, PI Planning and Agile ceremonies for accessibility and UAT integration.

The 508 UAT Specialist ensures related applications meet federal accessibility requirements (Section 508), support high quality User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and deliver user ready capabilities aligned with VA business needs for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Product Delivery Services (PDS), Benefits and Memorials (BAM), Memorial and Benefit Services (MBS) deliver secure, reliable, and effective Information Technology (IT) solutions that support the Department’s mission.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees accessibility validation, supports independent test cycles, prepares test artifacts, ensures traceability across requirements and test cases, and partners with Agile teams to deliver defect free, accessible, user approved functionality.
• Ensure all code changes undergo Section 508 compliance testing, including automated tooling and accessibility validation.
• Use automated 508 testing tools as part of the CI/CD pipeline and validation processes. (Automation requirements)
• Ensure accessibility defects are identified, documented, and remediated before production release. (Mandatory accessibility compliance under Testing / DevSecOps responsibilities)
• Support UAT by ensuring testers have clear visibility into test eligible features via Testing Dashboards.
• Provide required technical and functional details to UAT, ISQA, and IV&V teams to support independent validation.
• Support analysis of incidents arising from code quality, expired certificates, resource issues, human error, or accessibility barriers
• Participate in Sprint Reviews, PI Planning, and other Agile ceremonies to ensure accessibility and UAT considerations are incorporated early. (Agile team expectations).

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or an IT-related degree with 7-10 years' experience
• Experience conducting Section 508 compliance testing, including automated and manual validation.
• Experience supporting UAT, ISQA, IV&V, and independent validation teams.
• Experience ensuring testing consistency across unit, functional, integration, and acceptance levels.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and maintaining SDLC traceability
• Knowledge of Section 508 standards, WCAG criteria, assistive technology testing, and federal accessibility guidelines.
• Proficiency with automated 508 tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE, ANDI) and test dashboards used for UAT coordination.
• Public Trust

Preferred:

• Section 508 or accessibility certifications preferred
• DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester certification.
• ISTQB or Quality Assurance certification.
• SAFe Agile certification (SP, SSM, PO/PM).

Salary Range: $105,000 - $135,000

This role is in the proposal stage. The above salary range represents a general guideline. Integral Federal considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and/or discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay.
