Wakefield Public Schools is seeking a Districtwide .5 Reading Teacher for Elementary to deliver focused reading instruction across the district. This part-time role requires a Bachelor’s degree and MA license, with alternatives possible as approved by the Superintendent.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skill
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree and appropriate MA License
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goal:

  • To deliver instruction in ways that encourage student learning and achievement as measured by multiple assessments.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Teaches students reading. Prepares objectives and outlines for course of study that align with the state curriculum frameworks or requirements. Prepares, administers, corrects assessments and analyzes and records results. Discusses student academic progress with parents. Keeps grade records as required by school.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and deliver appropriate instruction.
  • Diagnose and analyze for the purpose of providing appropriate instruction
  • Maintain individual student records and reports of pupil progress.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
  • Use appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking of students.
  • Maintains safe learning environment.
  • Shows sensitivity to students, parents and community.
  • Assists parents/community members in finding answers to questions.
  • Maintain professional relationship between school and parents.
  • Maintains a high level of personal integrity, confidentiality and a strong work ethic.
  • Participates in district professional development.
  • Maintains IPDP for licensure.
  • Maintains DESE licensure

Salary Range:$31,651 -$59,659
