Position Summary

Fine Arts Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, standards-based instruction in performing arts to elementary school students. The teacher fosters creativity, self-expression, and appreciation for the arts while supporting the school’s mission and promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment. This is a part‑time (.5 FTE) position serving students in grades Pre‑K‑5.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high‑quality fine arts instruction aligned with state and district standards.
• Develop lessons that promote creativity, artistic skills, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation.
• Integrate a variety of artistic techniques, materials, and media into instruction.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Incorporate opportunities for student choice, collaboration, and performance or exhibition of student work.

Student Learning and Assessment

• Assess student progress using a variety of formal and informal measures.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and participation.
• Use assessment data to inform instructional planning and improve student outcomes.

Learning Environment

• Establish a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture.
• Promote positive student behavior and engagement.
• Maintain and organize instructional materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure the proper care and use of art materials and equipment.

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school‑wide initiatives as appropriate.
• Contribute to school events, performances, exhibitions, and celebrations that showcase student learning.

Professional Responsibilities

• Engage in ongoing professional learning related to arts education and instructional practices.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Appropriate Massachusetts teaching licensure in Dance or Theatre.
• Preferred: Experience working with elementary‑aged students.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Commitment to fostering creativity and a love of the arts in all students.

Terms of Employment

Part‑time (.5 FTE) School Year Position. Salary and benefits in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement and district policies. Salary: $56,650 to $83,125 per year.
