Job summary

ICD, a J. Gibson McIlvain Company, is seeking a CNC Operator to set up, operate, and maintain woodworking CNC equipment for custom millwork and cabinetry.

The role requires 2+ years of CNC experience, ability to read shop drawings, and familiarity with G-code. Work aligns with high-quality craftsmanship and safe, efficient production disciplines.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating CNC equipment in a woodworking or manufacturing environment (or equivalent training).
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, cut lists, and specifications.
• Basic understanding of CNC programming concepts (G-code familiarity preferred).
• Experience with CNC routers used for wood, MDF, plywood, veneers, and solid lumber.
• Familiarity with custom millwork, cabinetry, or architectural woodwork.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials up to 50 lbs.
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC routers and related woodworking machinery to manufacture parts according to shop drawings and specifications.
• Load, verify, and edit CNC programs as needed to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job.
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tool paths.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with shop safety standards.
• Coordinate with shop supervisors, programmers, and other operators to meet production deadlines.

Description

The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machining equipment to produce high-quality wood components for custom millwork, cabinetry, and architectural woodworking projects. This position requires strong machine competency, sound understanding of multi-axis machining fundamentals, and the ability to troubleshoot complex operations to meet quality, safety, and schedule requirements.
