POSITION TITLE: 49% Title I Elementary School Math Interventionist

LOCATION: Dames Ferry Elementary

REPORTS TO: Principal of School

Effective Date: 2026-2027 School Year to begin October 2026

Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide targeted, evidence-based mathematics intervention and support to students who require additional instruction beyond the regular classroom setting. The Math Interventionist works collaboratively with classroom teachers to identify and address individual student needs, strengthen foundational mathematics skills, develop mathematical reasoning and problem-solving strategies, and promote students' overall academic growth and mathematics proficiency.

• Consult frequently with classroom teachers regarding mathematics instruction and student needs, using progress-monitoring data and assessment results as a basis for instructional decisions.
• Design and implement targeted mathematics interventions and develop lesson plans detailing appropriate methods, strategies, and instructional materials.
• Assist in the evaluation of ongoing mathematics intervention programs and make recommendations for adjustments or changes based on student progress and data.
• Assist teachers and administrators in implementing effective mathematics instructional and intervention programs.
• Help teachers identify students' mathematical strengths and areas of need and match these needs with appropriate instructional strategies, techniques, and materials.
• Keep parents informed regarding the purpose of the mathematics intervention program and student progress, as appropriate.
• Work with support staff, classroom teachers, and school administrators to facilitate the coordination of mathematics intervention with the overall curriculum and instructional program.
• Consult with curriculum committees and instructional teams regarding topics such as mathematics curriculum, instructional resources, foundational skills, mathematical vocabulary, conceptual development, problem-solving, and supplemental materials.
• Promote student interest, confidence, and engagement in mathematics.
• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and district personnel to coordinate mathematics instruction and intervention designed to meet the individual needs of students.
• Work with classroom teachers to monitor and document student progress using appropriate assessment and progress-monitoring measures.
• Provide targeted, supplemental, and remedial mathematics instruction to students as needed.
• Participate in collaborative problem‑solving and data meetings to identify student needs, determine appropriate interventions, and monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of student interventions, progress, and instructional strategies.
• Utilize evidence-based mathematics instructional practices and interventions aligned with district curriculum and instructional expectations.
• Demonstrate familiarity with and utilize the Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to identify student needs, provide appropriate interventions, and monitor student response to intervention.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.

Minimum Qualifications

• Applicants must be certified with a valid Georgia P-5 (ECE) teaching certificate.
• Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
• Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
• Ability to be present at the physical worksite.

Terms of Employment

49% State salary schedule plus local supplement.

Funding Statement

This position is funded through Title I and is designed to directly impact student achievement by strengthening literacy instruction and supporting targeted interventions for students most at risk.
