Job summary

Scope-Services in Bridgman, MI is hiring an Industrial Painter for the 2nd shift. You will paint trailer chassis, axles, air tanks, and other parts according to specifications and the production schedule.

The role requires some painting experience, ability to mix paints, operate spray equipment, mask areas, and maintain clean work areas while following safety rules. This full-time position offers benefits after probation and a starting wage of $23 per hour.

Industrial Painter- 2nd Shift $23/hr - Some experience required.

Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of the Department Supervisor and in cooperation with other team members, paints trailer chassis, axels, air tanks and miscellaneous parts per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.

Essential Dutiesinclude the following.

  • Paints product according to painting specifications. Tack out drips and runs.
  • Select appropriate paint or mix paints using automated paint mixing equipment.
  • Operate hand-held spray guns or other mechanized painting or product coating equipment.
  • Masks off all areas not requiring paint.
  • Applies primer and topcoat and checks for drips, runs, and evidence of gouges after drying.

Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Tack or buff out primer runs if possible.
  • Mixes paint with thinner according to paint specification sheet and the handling time required.
  • Paint small items or apply touch-ups using paint brushes.
  • Cleans painting equipment and paint booth.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Good Attendance is a requisite for being able to perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Ensure trailer frame is stable and secure on the lifts prior to commencing painting

Qualifications:

  • Must be dependable, open to changes and new ideas, adaptable to new situations and challenges, and use time wisely.
  • The ability to work alone, and willingness to work with others respectfully and professionally in a team environment, with reasonable instructions, training, and supervision.
  • The ability to accomplish a task with concern for all the areas involved, including the ability to notice inconsistencies/faults in parts, equipment, or production processes to prevent faulty products leaving the facility.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Relevant and recent experience working in an industrial paint department required.

  • The employee is frequently required to walk; stand; sit; use hand/foot controls; use fine finger ability; use wrist motion; reach above/below shoulders; carry with hands and arms; and bend/stop, twist, squat/crouch, kneel or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Primary work assignments will require employees to frequently push/pull/lift from the floor to the table, and lift from table to shoulder level, up to 70 pounds.
  • Perform work standing on concrete a minimum of 8 hours and up to 12 hours per day, and a minimum of 4 days up to 6 days per week.
  • Perform work in heavy industrial setting with exposure to heat, cold, and humidity, industrial odors, fumes, gasses, chemicals, oil, grease, smoke, dust, noise, and vibration.
  • Employees may also be required to pass certain health requirements for respirator use to be considered for or remain in paint area.

Work Environment:While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employees must have the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for this position, including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety boots with metatarsal guards, Tyvek suit and respiratory protection.

Must be able to pass a criminal history check and drug screen.
