Job summary

Bowman Andros is seeking a 4 OZ Relief Operator to ensure smooth and continuous production on the 4 OZ Core Sauce line. You will relieve mixers, fillers, capper room, and other operators during breaks and vacations, ensuring swift coverage and adherence to SOPs.

The role requires attention to safety, lean manufacturing principles, and teamwork. You will monitor temperatures, manage sauce flow, and coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime in a fast-paced plant.

Qualifications

Job description

Job Summary:

The 4 OZ Relief Operator’s role is to ensure continuous smooth and efficient production for the entire 4 OZ Core Sauce line. The 4 OZ Relief Operator is responsible for assisting and relieving the Core Sauce Mixers, Filler operators, Capper Room Operator, and Machine Operators 1 and 2, for breaks, lunches, vacations, and as needed. As such, the 4 OZ Relief Operator’s responsibilities and knowledge must encompass all job duties and functions of each position’s job descriptions, and all requirements thereby.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Monitor, adjust and maintain temperatures of sauce in the mix tanks according to specifications for all raw material product preparation.

  • Maintains consistency of sauce using cooking time and temperatures according to specifications.

  • Maintains sufficient sauce for filler demand by communicating with filler operators to prioritize supply.

  • Communicate with Apple Process Operator regarding adjustment of temperature, acid levels, water, and consistency.

  • Monitor Mix tanks for fill level & control for overflow issues.

  • Coordinate constant communication on change-overs, sauce levels, temperature, Ascorbic acid levels and consistency levels to the Apple Process Operator, mixers, machine operators, and production management for the efficient and continuous supply of sauce the facility.

  • Adjust valves continuously during change-overs to maintain correct flow of product.

  • Report any major mechanical issues to maintenance staff, i.e. belt or spring repair, electrical issues.

  • Continually walk the production line to watch for areas needing breaks or assistance; responsible for determining and taking the initiative to assist other operators without direct monitoring.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

  • Continually observe for cross contamination or foreign objects.

  • Act as a relief Mixer and/or Filler Operator for breaks, lunches, and /or vacations as needed.

  • Act as a relief Cup Loader and/or Line Inspector for breaks, lunches, and/or vacations as needed.

  • Act as a relief Sleeve and Dacam Operator for breaks, lunches, and/or vacations as needed.

  • Act as a relief Capper Room and SWF Operator for breaks, lunches, and/or vacations as needed.

  • Maintain required Lot # information and record as required.

  • Other duties, as needed.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Ability to identify all machine and work center stop buttons, machine guards, hoods, doors and safety warnings, among other items, to ensure safety and efficient operation of the Rossi Skid and Bertocci machines.

  • Must possess and successfully demonstrate all the qualifications and functions as listed in the job descriptions and Job Qualification Standards for positions to relieve.

  • Regular and reliable attendance required.

  • Previous experience, aptitude and/or willingness for hands‑on mechanical troubleshooting.

  • Basic Computer skills strongly preferred.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times in the Production Area.

  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of management and maintenance.

  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles strongly preferred, including but not limited to 5S.

  • Follows 5S principles in Production areas; embraces and practices continuous improvement program at Bowman Andros.

  • Safe use of sharp instruments, mechanical tools (such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.) and a Non-Powered Pallet Jack.

  • Strong math, reading, writing and literacy required.

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment where priorities change frequently.

  • Excellent oral and communication skills.

  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

  • Must be able to understand and operate the Mixing machinery in a safe and productive manner, according to SOP's.


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The 4 OZ Relief Operator is required to work on the production floor. While performing the duties of this job, the associate frequently will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat and/or cold. The associate continuously works near moving mechanical parts. The associate will be exposed to loud noises from production equipment and thus will be required to wear PPE. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be high at times due to production and mechanical equipment noise.


Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be performed by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; see, talk and /or hear. The associate will be required to climb, balance and stoop, crouch, or crawl, specifically when needing to adjust product flow on moving and/or stationary conveyor belts. Belts may be located as much as 10 feet above ground level. The associate is required to stand for up to a 10 hour period (with breaks).


The associate will regularly need to lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally push or pull up to 70 pounds.
