Job Summary:

The 4oz Machine Operator 1’s (4MO1) primary responsibilities are to ensure continuous and efficient production for all assigned Core Sauce positions: Cup Loader, Sleeve Inspector, Divider, Dacam and 4oz Pack End/Palletizer Operators. This includes monitoring, operating and maintaining their assigned machines, ensuring product and packaging materials meet all specifications as required. As such, the 4MO1’s responsibilities and knowledge must encompass all job duties and functions of each position’s job descriptions, and all requirements thereby.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently and accurately perform all functions of each assigned workstation in a manner that meets and/or exceeds the standards of Bowman Andros and their customers.
  • Display willingness and openness to cross train and further gain knowledge of other functions and positions on the 4oz line.
  • Monitors, operates and maintains the machines in a safe manner while minimizing waste.
  • Monitors, operates & activates conveyors that move product, adjusting line speeds to match operations while ensuring smooth, continuous and efficient production.
  • Determine if the containers are being produced & packaged according to SOP’s by observing the container flow on the conveyors.
  • Performs checks and tests to ensure codes, sleeves, labels, glue seals, pallets, and other product containers are correct for the product, legible, accurate, correctly aligned, oriented and meet all customer, quality and legal specifications as required by Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Adjusts, aligns and revises labels as needed per the SOP’s.
  • Diagnoses and clears minor jamming issues within the machinery and on the conveyors; remove, discard and record tallies of damaged or inadequate cup materials, sleeves, labels, packaging materials and other product to ensure smooth & efficient product flow.
  • Notify maintenance and supervisor as needed regarding major mechanical, quality or production issues.
  • Maintain and record Lot Control number information to ensure they match customer specifications.
  • Monitor and adjust codes and dates within systems as needed for accuracy per customer specifications and SOP’s.
  • Constantly monitor for foreign material risks and leaking or damaged product containers they move down the conveyor.
  • Manually loads and unloads, or unseals and seals, pallets, sleeves, cups, labels and/or product to and from conveyors, equipment and/or designated areas, ensuring proper stacking and feed orientation as needed for smooth and continuous product flow.
  • Have a general understanding of the various pumps, belts, meters, valves, conveyors and any other equipment used in the grading, filling, production and packaging processes.
  • Accurately and efficiently performs all steps of the changeover, start-up and shut-down processes, including completing all required paperwork and checks according to specifications.
  • Communicate with other operators regarding line stoppages and forklift drivers to ensure completed pallets of product are transferred efficiently to continue flow of product.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area around their assigned 4oz line workstation, including around and under machines and equipment.
  • Uphold and promote food safety and quality standards by adhering to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and actively supporting a culture of continual improvement and accountability.
  • Other duties, as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to identify all machine and work center stop buttons, machine guards, belts, hoods, doors and safety warnings, among other items, to ensure safety and efficient operation of assigned machines.
  • Previous experience, aptitude and/or willingness for hands-on mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Basic Computer skills strongly preferred.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be always worn in the Production Area.
  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of management and maintenance.
  • Ability to safely use sharp instruments, hand tools, mechanical tools (such as wrenches, screwdrivers,

etc.) and a Non-Powered Pallet Jack.

  • Ability to safely use a hot glue gun and replace the glue stick as needed.
  • Strong math, reading, writing and literacy required.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment where priorities change frequently.
  • Excellent oral and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a teammate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The 4MO1 is required to work on the production floor. While performing the duties of this job, the teammate frequently will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat and/or cold. The teammate continuously works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to pinch points and hot surfaces. The teammate will be exposed to loud noises from production equipment and thus will be required to wear PPE. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be high at times due to production and mechanical equipment noise.

The teammate will regularly need to lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally push or pull up to 75 pounds.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be performed by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the teammate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; see, talk and /or hear. The teammate will be required to lift, climb, bend, stoop and crouch. The teammate is required to stand for up to a 12-hour period (with breaks).
