Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University, Penn State Extension in Lycoming County, is seeking an innovative Extension Educator to lead 4-H youth development activities. Based in Montoursville, PA, you will implement hands-on programs, recruit and support volunteers, and elevate local clubs while expanding partnerships and revenue opportunities.

You will work to promote inclusivity, coordinate programs across counties, and ensure strong program evaluation and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Strong teaching, program development and evaluation skills.
  • Effective communication with youth, parents, leaders, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Implement educational programs, materials, and activities for the 4-H program and local county needs.
  • Recruit, screen, train, and support adult volunteers.
  • Promote the 4-H program to retain members and recruit diverse youth audiences.
  • Foster urban-rural connections, including local food, economic development, and youth leadership initiatives.
  • Plan local program activities with the County 4-H Program Development Committee, including fundraising.
  • Communicate effectively with volunteers, youth, and parents to ensure quality experiences.
  • Build partnerships with other youth-serving groups, schools, and organizations.
  • Coordinate registration, supervision, and transportation for events across counties or states.
  • Implement program evaluation, documentation, and reporting.
  • Provide administrative oversight to 4-H volunteers and clubs to ensure policy adherence.
  • Manage funds raised in the name of 4-H at club and county levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Programs and Area 4-H Educator.
