Position Overview
After‑School Program Lead Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County supporting the 4‑H Afterschool Program, providing comprehensive 4‑H youth development opportunities for K‑12 students. Designated school districts include Beaver River Central, Belleville Henderson Central, Carthage Central, Copenhagen Central, Indian River Central, LaFargeville Central, and Watertown City.
Position Details
- Part‑time position: 25 hours per week.
- Hourly pay rate: $20.50.
- Hours may include evenings and/or weekends.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Program Delivery, Evaluation and Applied Research – 85%: Use established program resources to deliver 4‑H curriculum in STEAM; teach existing educational programs; assist in lesson planning and innovative instruction; support academic study portions; collaborate with school personnel to enhance instruction; provide staffing coverage for related programs; collaborate with Association staff; implement program evaluation and communicate results.
- Administrative – 5%: Oversee OCFS regulations in the program coordinator’s absence; maintain weekly reporting system.
- Coordination/Operation – 5%: Manage special projects, inventory resources, prepare instructional materials, coordinate outreach, and promote programming through print, news, and social media. Complete required reports for funding agencies.
- Professional Development – 5%: Participate in SACC and OCFS licensing trainings; develop a professional development plan; attend staff meetings and contribute to general marketing of Extension programs.
- Health and Safety: Maintain a safe working environment; comply with federal, state, local, and association safety policies; proactively prevent accidents and report hazards.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent; or High School Diploma/GED plus one year transferable program experience.
- Relevant experience for the role.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License.
- Ability to meet all School Age Child Care (SACC) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) licensing requirements (Tuberculosis Test, physical exam, training).
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
