Job summary

Control Tech Ltd. is seeking a 3rd Year Instrument Apprentice field technician in Troy, PA. You will learn from Instrument Journeymen, gaining hands-on skills in testing, calibrating, installing, repairing and inspecting industrial instrumentation and monitoring devices.

You will read P&ID drawings, assist with installing instrumentation on equipment, perform repairs, calibrations and preventative maintenance, and participate in safety programs. On-the-job training and mentorship are provided.

Qualifications

• Registered Apprentice preferred.
• High School Diploma required.
• Standard First Aid/CPR with AED; H2S Alive, CSO, CSTS.
• Experience in oil and gas is an asset.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol test required for safety-sensitive roles.
• Criminal background check with results assessed for relevance to the position.
• Clean driving record as defined by company standards (no major violations; max 3 infractions in past 5 years).

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets P&ID drawings.
• Assists with installing process control and measurement instrumentation on field equipment and processes (transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc.).
• Performs mechanical work on instrument repair and modification; removes and installs small piping and tubing.
• Rebuilds control valves and tunes controllers.
• Conducts preventative maintenance on instrumentation (calibration, replacement, tests); maintains field instrument records.
• Uses pressure and/or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.
• Installs and repairs chemical pumps.
• Participates in safety programs and company policies; provides on-call support as required.
• Other duties as required.

Job Brief:

The 3rd Year Instrument Apprentice field technician will work with and learn from Instrument Journeyman and other apprentices. The Apprentice will be shown practical skills and learn to test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices.
