Job summary

Winnebago County Youth Shelter Care Specialist position requires direct youth care in a shelter setting, with a focus on trauma-informed practices and safety. The role includes evening to early-morning shifts, documentation, and collaboration with the Care Supervisor and other staff.

Requires a high school education with 1 year of related experience; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Part-time 20 hours per week, Friday and Saturday nights, with additional shift premiums.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with at least 1 year of related experience or training.
• Preference for a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Evidence of meeting automobile liability insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and services to youth, engaging in educational and pro-social activities.
• Maintain the facility, meet basic needs, provide transportation as needed.
• Complete required paperwork and attend trainings per schedule.
• Support groups and programming, and model trauma-informed care practices.
• Work as part of the shelter care team and collaborate with partners.
