Job summary

Shaffer/Peerless Food Equipment in Sidney, OH is seeking a skilled welder for 3rd shift to fabricate, assemble, and repair metal components of industrial food processing equipment. You will read blueprints, interpret welding symbols, and perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding to meet safety and quality standards.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and working in a loud environment. Overtime may occur; over three years experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; trades training or related experience preferred.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding with ability to read blueprints and symbols.
• Ability to perform basic math in all units, including fractions and decimals.
• Comfort with hand & power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and stand for extended periods.
• Work in a non air-conditioned, loud environment with airborne particles.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Weld, fabricate, and repair metal components of industrial food processing equipment using MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
• Read blueprints and welding symbols; position, clamp, and weld parts to tolerances.
• Prepare, weld, and finish metal pieces using hand tools, grinders, and plasma cutters.
• Set up fabricated parts for welding and ensure proper fit and alignment.
• Troubleshoot welding issues to maintain production flow.
• Attend safety meetings and follow safety protocols; keep area clean and organized.
• Suggest improvements to welding efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Aim for high-quality welds that meet company and customer standards.
• Follow detailed instructions and resolve routine problems in standard situations.
