Job summary

Mattel seeks an on-site Security Officer at its global headquarters in El Segundo, CA. The role supports protecting people, assets, and brand while enforcing security policies and procedures.

Shift is Friday–Tuesday nights, with weekends and holidays required. The candidate should be flexible, detail-oriented, and capable of responding calmly in emergencies, with strong communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have a valid Security Guard License (where required).
• Certification in First Aid, CPR, and Blood-borne Pathogens or willingness to obtain it.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and organization levels.
• Ability to write clear incident reports and professional correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Support Global Security Strategy to protect people, assets and Mattel’s reputation.
• Enforce security policies to create a safe environment for employees and visitors.
• Complete security duties as directed by Security Leader/Shift Supervisor.
• Conduct on-foot, vehicle, and digital patrols of Mattel campuses.
• Monitor access control, CCTV, and guard tour systems; report issues to Facilities.

The Team:

The Global Security Team is responsible for the protection of people, assets, and reputation of Mattel. We accomplish this by hiring, training, & developing top security and investigation professionals, implementing effective policies, collaborating with others, and by leveraging existing and emerging technologies.

What Your Impact Will Be:

• Support Mattel’s GlobalSecurity Strategy to protect people, assets, and Mattel’s reputation by providing exceptional customer service and consistently applying policies and practices.
• Enforce Mattel Global Security policies and practices to create a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors.
• Completes security duties and related tasks asdefinedin the Contingency Operations and SOP manuals under the direction of the Security Leader/Shift Supervisorand SecurityManager.
• Completessecurity patrols onfoot patrols, in a vehicleand digitallyto monitor theMattelcampusesforphysicalsecurity, safetyand facilities-related concerns.Effectively monitors the access control system, CCTV system, and the “guard tour” management system.
• Monitors the fire control panel for alarms and any problems with equipment. Reports any service/maintenance issues to Facilities personnel.
• Perform administrative data entry duties as assigned bythe Shift Supervisors,for incident documentation and communications viathe Microsoft suite.
• Ensureadherenceto access control standardsincludingtheemployeebadge policy,visitor registration,temporary or contract workercheck insandintern badging along withother visitor types.
• Ensuresparking lot safetyby conductingtraffic control, enforcing parking rules,accidentinvestigationsandresponsetoemergency call box activations.
• Support IP (IntellectualProperty)processsurrounding confidentiality andcontrolleddestructionof IPper Mattel standards.
• Additionalresponsibilitiesas assigned bysupervisor ormanager.
• Flexibility to work on multiple shiftsand or shift timesto support business needs.
• This is an onsite position and does not allow for remote work.

What We’re Looking For:

• One+ years of Security, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, Law Enforcement, or military background preferred.
• High school diploma or GED, required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have a valid Security Guard License, (where required).
• Must be certified in First Aid, CPR, and Blood-borne Pathogens, OR be willing to obtain certification through training provided by Mattel (annual training provided).
• Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and with all levels of the organization in the performance of daily dutiesvia multiple communicationmethods and platforms
• Analyticalabilities to think critically makingclear, well-reasoned rational decisions.
• Ability to effectively respond to all types of situations in a confidential manner. Possess the ability toremain calmduringanemergency or stressfulsituation.
• Working knowledge of PCs and software including MS Windows, Microsoft Office,CCTV and access control is a plus.
• Must be able to work varying shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpretgeneral business policies, professional journals, technical procedures,or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports,andbusiness correspondence,including detailed incident reports writing.
• Display exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to stand and walk, go up/downstairs and stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Outdoor postassignments (where applicable) mayrequire an individual to withstand extreme heat, humidity, cold, and/or severe weather (e.g. snow, sleet, rain, hail, wind).
• Ability to usepost-securityequipment (handheld and walk-thru metal detectors,handheldradios, access control systems, CCTV).
