Job Description
The 3rd shift safety and security officer position functions under the supervision of and in coordination with the Director of Security. This position is responsible for protecting our premises, assets, guests, and staff. It maintains a high visibility presence and prevents all illegal or inappropriate actions. The goal is to detect, deter, observe, and report to create a safe, positive, and memorable experience for each guest.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Protect company’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Ensure guest and staff safety and security through careful entry screening and inspections, including tactful messaging of prohibited items.
- Provide friendly guest service by assisting with inquiries, directions, and event information.
- Assist with event setup, including equipment, signage, and materials.
- Manage crowd control, including entry/exit points and attendee flow.
- Patrol the venue and grounds, reporting suspicious activities or incidents.
- Monitor attendees and staff to ensure safety.
- Operate surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and emergency detecting equipment.
- Investigate disturbances and suspicious activities.
- Regularly report incidents and follow supervisor instructions.
- Assist guests with special requests, including ADA accommodations.
- Escort discharged staff, trespassers, unruly attendees, and unwelcome parties off-site.
- After hours, check doors, windows, and gates to secure the property.
- Perform first aid or CPR if necessary.
- Identify and escalate security concerns to supervisors or law enforcement.
- Contact law enforcement or fire department during emergencies.
- Detain suspected individuals until law enforcement arrives.
- Act lawfully in defense of life or property.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- One to three years of security or event security experience.
- Must have or obtain TN Private Protective Services Unarmed Security Guard license.
- Pass a criminal background check.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Polite and courteous interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong command of English.
- Ability to write clear incident reports.
- Remain calm under pressure and handle challenging individuals.
- Reliable, responsible, and attentive.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Stand, walk, and reach for extended periods.
- Maintain balance on various surfaces.
- Carry loads over 35 pounds and exert force as needed.
- Climb ladders, stairs, and ramps.
- Hear normal sounds with or without correction.
- Work in environments with moderate to high noise levels.
- Visual abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Work late nights, weekends, and holidays.
