Job summary

Times Microwave Systems in Wallingford, CT seeks an operator to wind wires from multiple reels onto a single reel and perform routine inspections and repairs on cables. Responsibilities include reporting faulty areas, conducting continuity tests, and following established testing procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Wind from multiple reels to single reel as necessary for cabling or other operations.
• Visually checks all wire and cable during rewinding operations to detect rough finish areas, obvious diameter variations and other disqualifying elements.
• Take approved action to report, repair, remove faulty areas depending upon type and use requirements of wire or cable being rewound.
• Performs simple electrical test functions to check cables and other items for continuity and "dead" shorts.
• Run routine spark and similar tests following established practices and/or specific instructions.
• Performs minor cable repairs, trim braid, repair jackets and perform other routine repair operations as necessary.
• Check wall thickness, conductor and other diameters using micrometers and other measuring devices.
• Coat wires and cable as directed
