Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Manager Production for the Lafayette Engine Center on the 3rd shift. You will oversee and coordinate the activities of a complex production line, prepare schedules, resolve issues, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

You will train staff, manage shifts, and drive continuous improvement across teams in Lafayette, IN. The role emphasizes problem solving, data analysis, and planning with a focus on safety and productivity.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience desired.
• Knowledge of problem solving approaches, tools and techniques.
• Ability to apply analytical thinking to diverse situations.
• Understanding of data gathering and analysis methods.
• Familiarity with performance management practices and feedback mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Create reports documenting production processes, tools, issues and inventory; share with managers and propose safety, productivity, and quality improvements.
• Maintain and update operating procedures and safety/quality documentation; ensure processes meet safety and quality standards.
• Supervise daily production line activities; assign tasks, coordinate between teams, ensure safety and monitor performance.
• Train new hires, manage scheduling, resolve conflicts, monitor safety, and foster internal communication for continuous improvement.
