Job summary

MCC is a global leader in premium labels seeking a Press Operator Assistant for the 3rd shift at our Chesapeake, VA facility. You will support printing presses, handle set-ups and changeovers per job specs and customer expectations.

The role offers $18.00–$21.00 per hour, plus $1.00 shift differential and a $1,000 sign-on bonus, with a strong benefits package and a 10:45pm–7:15am schedule, Sunday night through Friday morning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Print shop experience helpful but not required.
• Ability to communicate and interact well with others (verbally and written).
• Ability to read and understand a job ticket.
• Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (pass ruler test).
• Ability correctable to 20/20 (eye test).
• Ability to differentiate colors (color test).
• Ability to input data in computer.
• Team environment with urgency for on-time completion.
• Self-motivated with ability to stay focused and follow instructions.
• Must stand and move around press area for long periods.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception.
• Assertive and solution-focused.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
• Attains and maintains all defined job objectives related to job planning and execution and quick changes.
• Assist in external make-ready operations for changeovers between label jobs.
• Assist in external clean-up after changeovers.
• Clean ink pans and ancillary equipment.
• Strip plates from cylinders.
• Locate dies to and from press.
• May work with press operator to view labels using a strobe light.
• Adhere to quality assurance specifications and complete QA sheets as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of machinery and workspace.
• Work overtime as needed and assigned.
• Related duties as assigned.
