Job summary

Nippon Paint Automotive Americas Inc. (NPAA) in Chattanooga, TN, is hiring for a Chemical Operator on the 3rd shift (Sunday–Thursday, 11:00am–7:30am). The role processes raw materials into finished polymers using reactors, DCS, and lab testing equipment in a OSHA PSM-covered environment.

Overtime is required and compensation starts at $25.00/hour, negotiable by experience. The operator will handle hazardous and non-hazardous materials, perform quality checks, manage waste, and maintain accurate

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 5 years chemical manufacturing experience. Polymer or reaction chemistry preferred.
• Fork Truck Certification
• HAZMAT training (Hazwoper, etc.) or experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform production functions according to company standards, including loading materials and continuous processing of reactive batch chemicals.
• Operate equipment and manage raw materials per procedures and specifications.
• Conduct chemical testing on in-process and finished goods in a lab setting.
• Complete related paperwork, reports, and support functions.
• Communicate issues to supervision and work independently when scheduled.
• Create work orders for equipment repair activities.
• Provide training to personnel for other production positions.
• Perform periodic preventive maintenance on heat exchangers and condensers.
• Troubleshoot process abnormalities using DCS and field sensors; notify engineering.
• Assist in interlock and alarm testing with Engineering group.
