Job summary

Oetiker, NY Inc. is seeking a 3rd shift (overnight) Machine Operator for automatic screw machines in the BD Metallic QC department, located in Batavia, NY.

You will operate multiple screw machines, perform in-process inspections, document data, and maintain a clean, safe work area; shift is Sunday to Friday, 10:00 pm – 6:30 am.

Salary ranges USD 41,000–51,000 annually with opportunities for advancement, tuition reimbursement, and comprehensive training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Prefer at least 1 year operating automatic screw machines.
• Strong knowledge of gauges and basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple automatic screw machines at target production rates.
• Perform in-process inspections using gauges per control plan.
• Record downtime and maintenance data; report defects.
• Shift-to-shift communication on machine conditions.
• Make tool changes and adjust tools as needed.
• Maintain operator preventive maintenance according to schedules.
• Process chips and conduct bar stamping as required.

Salary Range: $41,000 - $51,000

Summary

Operates automatic screw machines to produce quick-connect bodies at a determined production rate while maintaining quality.

Essential Functions

Maintains a clean and safe work area. Operates/manages multiple automatic screw machines. Complete in-process inspections using gages provided and following control plan. Follows “3-Container System” procedure to ensure parts are conforming to print. Document appropriate information on downtime sheets and in grind log. Maintains production goals. Communicate from shift to shift on machine conditions. Notifies Production Supervisor of any defective condition or non-conformities. Make tool changes and proper tool adjustments. Maintain all operator preventative maintenance on machines per schedules. Inspect and sorts as needed. Processes chips in chip system. Conduct bar stamping as needed

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of automatic screw machines and strong mechanical ability. Ability to use measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, etc.

Education / Experience

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Prefer a minimum of 1 years’ experience operating automatic screw machines

Strong knowledge of gages and basic computer skills are strongly preferred

This is a 3rd shift position. Regular hours are 10:00 pm - 6:30 am (Sunday to Friday)
