Job summary

HII Newport News Shipbuilding seeks an experienced training specialist to plan, develop, and coordinate in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers. You will obtain information, prepare training materials, develop course content, and determine the most effective methodologies.

Training sessions are conducted to evaluate effectiveness and content is regularly updated for current requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years progressive experience in training or supervision.
• Equivalent: NNPS/Apprentice School or related military/trades background.
• Military E-5 or above experience is acceptable.
• High School/GED with 4 years of related manufacturing experience.
• High School/GED with 8 years of related non-exempt experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and coordinate in-house training programs for field support personnel and customers.
• Obtain information, prepare materials, develop course content, and determine methodologies.
• Conduct training sessions and establish criteria to evaluate effectiveness.
• Continuously revise lesson plans to meet new training requirements and keep content up to date.

The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range.

The Role

Plans, develops, and coordinates in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers. Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. May utilize trainers with technical expertise. Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

• NNS Apprentice School graduate
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
• Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Nice to Have

• O26 or O67 training instructional experience and/or trade supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of Training Processes (Scheduling, Facilitation and Course Development)
• Ability to lead people and manage day to day tasks
• Maintain a high level of professionalism.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
• MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 3RD SHIFT
